Maurice Watkins

About

Maurice Watkins enlisted in the Marine Corps on 5 May 1995, and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Maurice is currently a mortgage broker with Patriot Pacific Financial.

Upon graduating from recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at School of Infantry West (SOI West), Camp Pendleton, California. Following MCT, he attended his military occupational specialty school in Barstow, California for Supply Warehouse Clerk (3051).

In October of 1995, Private First Class Watkins received orders to 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA for duty as a Supply Warehouse Clerk in which he did 2 Western Pacific deployments with the 32nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. In January of 1999, Corporal Watkins received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. for duty as a Supply Warehouse chief. Additionally he served as the Depot Color Guard, General’s driver, and the Recruit Training Regiment Supply Chief. In April of 1999, Corporal Watkins was promoted to Sergeant.

In December 2002, Sergeant Watkins transitioned from the Marine Corps and became a Correctional Officer at Corrections Corporation of America in San Diego California. After working there for 8 months, he decided to come back in the Marine Corps in July of 2003 and become a Marine Corps recruiter. He received orders to RS Lansing, RSS Flint, Michigan. In September 2006, SSgt Watkins received orders to Marine Wing Headquarters squadron 3rd Marine Air Wing for duty as the Supply Chief in which he deployed to Iraq from January 2008 to August 2008. In August 2009, after a successful tour as a Supply Chief, SSgt Watkins received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 to perform duties as a Warehouse Chief. Upon completion of his duties in MWSS 171, GySgt received orders in August of 2011 to Supply Battalion on Camp Pendleton, California to perform his duties as the Operations Chief. In April 2012, GySgt Watkins received orders to the Marine Corps University Staff academy to become an instructor at the Career Course and the SNCOIC of the Corporal’s course. He received orders to the 3rd MAW G-4 in July of 2015 to be the G-4 Supply Chief for 3rd MAW. He was selected and promoted to the rank of 1stSgt in January of 2016 and was sent to the Assault Amphibious School battalion in January of 2016 where he currently performs his duties as the H&S company 1stSgt. 1stSgt Watkins’s personal decorations include 2 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and 5 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. 1stSgt Watkins has a daughter named Zoe Watkins.
